ESR Team User Research Need:  

Oriel 

Trainee recruitment system 

TIS (Trainee Information System) 

Trainee management system 

ESR (Electronic Staff Record) 

Used by trusts (trainee employers) mainly, trainee HR +payroll etc.  

 

Introduction:  

TIS transfers information and updates of Placements (person +posts) that is going to happen in a  

‘13weeks-2days’ period to ESR, i.e. to the trusts/employers of trainees.  

Kinds of reports on placements and rotations in trusts: 

  1. Reports made by ESR which are medical rotation spreadsheet fed from our notifications to them 

  2. Tableau ones produced by James Harris fed by national data warehouse.  

  3. Trog report used by London trusts 

TIS is not clear about who is using what for what purposes? 

[WHY do we need to know this? 

  1. If we make any changes what will be effected most

  2. Know if there can be Best practice reporting style] 

Thus, research question is who the users are of these data, what are they using it for? what regions or trusts are making and using the reports?
