Definition and scope

The TIS Assessments function is concerned with the management of annual or more frequent reviews of trainee progress - most notable of these leading formal gateway processes that enable trainees to progress to the next stage of their training (e.g. ARCP for trainee doctors). In summary, it involves identifying candidates for review, assembling the right people at the right time in the right place to undertake a review, ensuring they have access to the information they need (the main source being the relevant e-portfolio, but also Form R - or a future manifestation of this information - and exception reports etc), and the process of recording the outcome and informing the trainee (plus these processes as they apply to appeals).

The assessments process uses the various e-portfolios as the central source of evidence for the review, and outcomes are uploaded to e-portfolio as well as to HEE's central trainee records on Intrepid. While the two systems are closely connected through the assessment process, their purposes are distinct.

The primary role of an e-portfolio is to enable HEE trainees to capture, store and submit evidence towards the workplace-based assessments and competencies required by the curriculum of their specific training programme (e.g. foundation doctor or dentist, pharmacy technician, clinical healthcare scientist, nursing associate). /wiki/spaces/EP/pages/39485600
