Initial As-Is Discussion

General

  • Post funding is related to site -
    • multiple sites for a single post implies multiple finding sources
    • The funding is split by time and site
  • It’s very important to link old and new posts for traceability
  • Editing posts relating to funding is also important
  • Needs to be a difference between trainee related funding and post related funding

New Challenges

Suspension of Training

  • Where there has been a quality concern a training site (or multiple) may need to close
    • where there is a major concern, the site is shut down for training, trainees need to be re-housed
    • where there is a minor concern and the trainee can be moved within the same trust, the post is just edited to reflect a new or other minor detail
  • Process currently involves 3 steps
    • 1- indicate post is suspended (i.e. inactive)
    • 2 - create temporary post within a new trust
    • 3 - finance team apply full salary re-charge
  • Problems occur when the temp post is left indefinitely or for longer than 2-3 years - a solution would be to apply limits relating to severity of a case which then reminds admins to review the temp post
    • Ian Bateman would be best placed to advise on whether this would be a good move

Post Funding Administration

  • too many users are able to manage posts and post funding currently, which creates errors

Funding Algorithm

  • funding allocation directly relates to funding type
    • tariff (HEE)
    • Medell? (Dental)
    • Trust
    • Other - includes salary re-charges, there is potentially regional variation in how this is applied

Slot Shares

  • needs to account for job sharing by allocation %

Trainee in Difficulty

  • will need special funding
