TIS Admin UI - Search (Smart) and Tables (Functionality) - People, Posts & Programmes

The below is the most recent work done around Search & Filters in Table Lists. We have a 'working prototype' created by John which requires some updates and also bugs fixing before this is moved into TIS. There is also an interactive prototype in InVision and PDF version to show the updates we need to make after Usability testing with Users from Workshop. 2 rounds of testing have been completed with the updates and 'Notes around the updates' also included below.

Notes for us to use to create Story/tickets:

Story:

As a User I want To search and filter for trainees through the database, in an easy, practical way.
So that I can manage the trainees on their placements, assessments and other areas of their training

To do this I would like:

  1. Can we search ‘Forename & Surname’ - Column/Column as this was a huge win for Intrepid and all users asked for this to be available in TIS (Spike required between BE/FE)
  2. The results of the prototype: https://dev-apps.tis.nhs.uk/admin/people-new do not match the user s tasks when performed, ie, filtering or searching gives rundown results: Bugs need fixing, check with the guys if this should be done in prototype first or moved across.
  3. Add the ‘Add person’ button at top of the page (top right). Although they usually bulk upload, adding people is not clear unless you go to primary navigation.
  4. Change the row interaction to ‘Edit’ and not view card. The ‘Quick view' column is now on the right of the columns.
  5. Change the view card content to the example in the prototype. Remove ‘level’ edit options and have one ‘Edit record’ point of entry as in prototype update.
  6. Results shown should show all results. To the right of the search bar, it should show the number of results found in that specific search, then change again if Filters are applied etc. This allows the user to see how many Trainees may be in a specific area.
  7. Have the page navigation consistent on both top and bottom of table list as in prototype update
  8. Row hover states follow GDS/NHSDS example of ‘Focus yellow’ background. #ffb81c
