I have just tried to access the portal using your new recommended method of using an authenticator app. I’m not sure what the security issues are with using a text message- a lot of banks etc use this as a valid method. I have never before had to use an authenticator app, but having tried to log in on my phone, I found the whole process really clunky. If you only ever login to the portal using a computer then I’m sure it’s fine- scan the QR code, get a code in return. But because I was logging in on my iPhone, I had to copy the code from the website into the app along with my email address, and then it gave me a very short period of time to memorise a 6 digit number, find the web page again and type it in. I also don’t particularly appreciate having to download yet another app to my phone in order to use a website that realistically I would only need to access a couple of times a year. Perhaps I’m just spoilt by being able to use Face ID for pretty much every app I own though!

Clunky if using phone for both authenticator and logging in.

Used the google authenticator app, and this worked fine. Managed to see my placement info and previous form R etc. The CCT date is wrong on my record, it should be 06/09/2022 and not March 2023 based on my most recent ARCPApart from that, thought the electronic system worked much better than the current ARCP PDFs system we use currently!

I have just tried logging into the self service platform and honestly found it a little confusing at the beginning as I didn't think it was clear about using an authentication app. As I have never used an authentication app before, it would have been more logical to have the information about authentication apps above the QR code. 
furthermore, I could not find the information about the authentication apps on the trainee support website. Once you have the app, it was easy to log into the website. Hope this is helpful to your team

So this is my first log in using the QR code for Duo. I think it is a great idea, as more secure. However, it was annoying that I couldn't do it all on my phone and had to go and log in to my computer to then use my phone to scan the QR code. Not sure if the is a way to do this all on the one device, but this would be something I would work towards to make it simpler.

MFA is a great idea.
Would have preferred to do it all on one device instead of computer and phone.

Hello,
I just set this up on my phone in Google Authentication app. I didn't have a second screen on so I used the cut and paste code rather than scanning QR. Other than that it was very easy and I have since logged out and back in again without incident.

Easy to set up and use, though no second screen so had to cut and paste code instead of scanning the QR code.

I think there should be instructions on how to use other authenticator applications asides the google one. I used microsoft authenticator and it took me a while to figure out how to add this site/account to the authenticator app. I think the authenticator app is a wonderful idea.

Include instructions for other authenticator apps (not sure just google).
