1We need to make sure that it is simple for users to get reports and be self sufficient in this process.  Need to take into account that a lot of the users (including some of local office information team staff) do not have SQL skills/abilities and therefore need an efficient reporting system.  It needs to be able to handle producing complex reports.  I agree that it needs to support new analytical and business intelligence structures but it also needs to deliver on normal everyday reporting processes.  I also like the idea of having a data quality dashboard so that data managers can have an overall view of the state of their data

What would I like to see as standard reports?

  1. A programme fill chart to show trainee occupation in a programme over time. At the moment I do this manually in a grid as per attached illustration below. This is immensely useful for programme and recruitment planning and management.
  2. I'd also like to see a report on programme output (that is, CCT or its non-medical equivalent) in terms of numbers predicted or expected to complete training over time.
  3. Finally, we were promised drag-and-drop placement management functionality with V10 which has never materialised. While this is not strictly reporting, there is an overlap between the 2 functions. Cheers.

3We'd like the reporting tool to be able to create templates for us, as we currently have with our own NW in-house reporting tool ( Lemon ).  For example, when we run our rotation report through Lemon, the data is automatically added to an Excel template into a particular format that has some hidden formulas and VBA to do additional tasks.
