Purpose and Demand

All stakeholders recognise the purpose of TIS Revalidation and are enthusiastic about having a system to help them in the Revalidation process which, in itself, is drawn out and bureaucratic.

Issues With the Current Process

The main concerns with the current version of TIS Revalidation are that:

  • it frequently crashes

  • it doesn’t push or pull data through to TIS Core accurately or in a timely manner

  • some essential data items are missing (e.g. Form R data)

  • it fails to indicate if the overnight GMC data load has run

All stakeholders' business processes involve using one or more spreadsheets to coordinate Revalidation which would not be required if the current system worked.

Opportunities for Improvement

All interviewed stakeholders have agreed that the functional aspects of the system are more or less satisfactory. The main problems occur with the implementation of the non-functional requirements, especially the unreliability of the service and the, seemingly random, problems of synchronising Revalidation data with TIS Core and the GMC.
